Recurring Yeast Infections

Recurring Yeast Infections

Any person who has infections involving yeast many times may is considered to be a recurring yeast infection sufferer. For females, this may mean that their recurring yeast infections occur frequently, and they may also suffer from painful intercourse and frequent burning and itching of the vaginal area. Recurring yeast infections, though, can also affect men and children, as well as other areas of the body. Recurring yeast infections can be on the skin, in the mouth, or in other parts of the digestive tract.

For men, recurring yeast infections can affect their genital area, with a burning sensation, bumps on the penis, and a penile discharge. Or, of course, they could also be suffering form recurring yeast infections of the mouth, which are called thrush. This recurring yeast infection of the oral variety can affect kids, too. Children, though, can also suffer from recurring yeast infections that affect their skin, particularly in the diaper area.

The recurring yeast infection sufferer likely has a compromised immune system, whether from HIV, AIDS, cancer, or other immune system deficiency. To stave off future flare-ups of the recurring yeast infections, it is a good idea to discuss possible options with your doctor. However, the recurring yeast infection sufferer may be able to ward off the recurring yeast infections by simply altering the diet and some basic habits.

For the recurring yeast infection in the vaginal area, women should consider eliminating vaginal deodorants, sprays, and douches that upset the natural Ph balance of the vagina. Also, recurring yeast infections in this area may be caused by too-tight underwear or clothing; switching to better fits and natural fabrics may alleviate the recurring yeast infections. Likewise, pantyhose and tights are highly restrictive and may be contributing to the recurring yeast infection. Maintaining a dry, clean vaginal area can mean the difference between a healthy vagina and one plagued by recurring yeast infections.

For the oral variety, recurring yeast infections can be put off by good dental habits, such as regular (two times a day) brushing and flossing (once a day). Recurring yeast infections in the mouth could also be caused by using mouthwashes or breath sprays, which contain chemicals that can upset the balance of bacteria in the mouth. Recurring yeast infections can be limited in frequency, too, by maintaining healthy teeth and gums with regular dental check-ups.

In children, particularly babies wearing diapers or training pants, recurring yeast infections in this area can be helped by making sure the area stays as dry as possible, which means frequent changes and possibly going without a diaper at home for periods of time, which will allow the air to dry out the area, thereby limiting the frequency of the recurring yeast infections.
